KEAN is a New Zealand owned activewear brand creating considered clothing for performance, movement, recovery and everyday life.

Our collections span technical performance activewear, OEKO-TEX® certified Edge, our upcoming 95% GOTS-certified organic cotton Core Collection, and 100% GOTS-certified organic cotton Recovery wear. We don't believe there's one perfect fabric for everything. Instead, we choose materials based on what each garment needs to do, while becoming more considered with every collection we create.

KEAN was created from a love of movement, but our idea of an active lifestyle has evolved. Movement isn't only the hour you spend training. It's Pilates in the morning, walking to coffee, stretching at home, weekends at the beach, rest days and everything in between. We're building KEAN around how you actually move and live, with clothing for both performance and the moments surrounding it.

As KEAN has grown, we've started asking more questions about our fabrics. What are they made from? Where could we use more natural fibres? And when technical fibres are needed, can we make a more considered choice? Those questions are shaping the future of KEAN. Our Edge Collection uses OEKO-TEX® certified performance fabric. Our upcoming Core Collection combines 95% GOTS-certified organic cotton with 5% spandex for low-to-moderate intensity movement. And Recovery uses 100% GOTS-certified organic cotton for the moments when technical stretch isn't needed. We don't claim to have all the answers. We're simply committed to greater transparency, more considered fabric choices and continuing to evolve as we learn.

You'll see the term low-tox activewear across KEAN. It's not an official textile certification, and we don't use it to suggest that clothing can be completely chemical-free or that every KEAN product carries the same certification.

For us, low-tox is a direction. It's about seeking recognised textile certifications where possible, understanding more about our materials, increasing our use of natural fibres where functionality allows and being transparent about the choices we're making. One of the first expressions of this direction is our Edge Collection, which uses OEKO-TEX® certified performance fabric. OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100 tests textiles against a wide range of substances that may be harmful to human health. Importantly, this certification currently applies to Edge, not every KEAN performance product.

We don't believe responsible clothing is as simple as labelling one fabric "good" and another "bad". Every material comes with trade-offs. Natural fibres don't always provide the technical performance needed for high-intensity activewear. Synthetic fibres can provide exceptional stretch, compression and durability, but we also want to be thoughtful about when we actually need those properties. So our approach is pragmatic. Use technical performance where it's needed. Move towards natural fibres where we can. Look for recognised certifications. Tell you what our clothing is actually made from. And keep learning.

Different moments ask different things from what we wear. That's why the future of KEAN isn't about finding one fabric and using it for everything. It's about the right material for the right purpose. Performance Technical activewear designed for the moments when stretch, support, durability and performance matter. Our wider performance range includes different technical fabrications. Not every KEAN performance product carries the same textile certification, and applicable certifications are identified on individual product pages.

• Edge - OEKO-TEX® certified technical performance fabric. Edge represents our more considered approach to higher-performance activewear, combining stretch, support and compression with an independently certified textile. Designed for strength training, gym sessions and moderate-to-higher intensity movement.
• Core - 95% GOTS-certified organic cotton. 5% spandex. Coming soon, Core is our bridge between technical activewear and natural fibres. We use a small amount of spandex to provide the stretch and recovery fitted activewear needs while keeping the vast majority of the fabric composition organic cotton. Designed for Pilates, walking, barre, mobility and low-to-moderate intensity movement.
• Recovery - 100% GOTS-certified organic cotton. When technical stretch isn't necessary, we can simplify. Recovery is our natural-fibre loungewear collection for slow mornings, travel, rest days, coffee after Pilates and the hours before, after and between movement.
